Putnam welcomes 2021 Summer Associate interns

3 mins read

Putnam welcomes 12 Summer Associate Interns, who come from top universities across the country, to kick off our annual program which will be held virtually this year. Each summer, Putnam hires rising college seniors to spend 10 weeks assisting with casework while being exposed to a genuine consulting experience. Our Summer Associates gain insight on the strategic issues that face today’s pharmaceutical companies, as well as specific changes affecting the healthcare marketplace. Over the next ten weeks they will prepare and conduct primary research with physicians, patients, and managed care; in addition they will gather secondary research from healthcare literature and internal sources, analyze client, and market data and work with project teams led by a Manager or Partner to develop client presentations. Our Summer Associates also have the opportunity to design their own research projects and present their findings to the entire firm at the end of the summer. Putnam CEO, Remco op den Kelder remarked,

“We could not be more excited to welcome our 2021 intern class. Although this year’s program will be once again virtual (with some fun in-person events planned), nonetheless, based on last years experience we know that this will be a meaningful and impactful program for both the interns and Putnam. What makes our program so special? Not only do we provide our Summer Associates with a unique opportunity to take a look behind the curtain on what strategy consulting is all about, but we also provide a great way for our interns to assess whether or not Putnam is the right place to start a career. We always are very excited when interns decide to return as it speaks to the attractive environment we have created, unlike non-intern candidates, our interns have had a front row seat to really understand what Putnam is all about. We are extremely proud that over the past 5 years over 90% of our interns that received an offer at the end of their internship have returned for a full time position after completing their final year of undergrad.”

Recruiting Manager, Emily Fiorito also added,

“I am thrilled to welcome our interns this year. We have 12 students from schools across the country joining. Every year we host an immersive hands-on experience for rising seniors to learn everything Putnam. It’s one of my favorite programs to hire for. We have many full-time employees here that were interns and it’s been great to see the success and growth of the program. Our interns are staffed on cases alongside our employees to get insight into the type of work we do, the clients we serve, and even get a first-hand look at some of our learning and development programs. In addition to case work, we host many intern events and leadership talk series that give our interns an opportunity to meet many of our Partners and our CEO – should be a great 10 weeks!”
