Today Putnam announced Matt Riordan as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), Commercial Practice Lead. Matt has been with the firm for nearly two decades and brings an in-depth understanding of the industry. He has had the chance to grow with Putnam throughout his career, being a catalyst for innovation in key areas – most prominently in its commercial strategy practice.
As COO, Matt will focus on defining, solidifying, and growing our position as a leader in the life science advisory space. This role will involve driving key initiatives related to evolving and advancing our service offerings and supporting the growth and development of our consulting staff – ensuring that Putnam remains a top destination for life science talent across the globe.
Putnam’s Commercial Practice is one of the two main leading revenue functions for the firm. It consists of strategic disciplines across early pipeline, product commercialization and growth, portfolio strategy and licensing, and data and analytics. Matt will oversee these areas and will be an elevated member of the broader leadership team.
The Commercial Practice team has expanded with Putnam’s announcement earlier this month with the alignment of three entities under the Putnam brand.
In his new role, Matt is most excited to harness the depth of scientific and commercial strategy expertise that exists in the team to answer the most complex and critical questions facing the life science industry. He shares, “We have an amazing team of consultants with depth of expertise that runs across the development and commercialization continuum. What brings us all together is a shared passion for supporting each other and delivering impact to our clients. I am looking forward to supporting this team and growing the potential impact we can have on our clients, their products, and the patients they benefit.”
