New Principal out of London Joins Putnam

Putnam is pleased to announce the addition of Stephen McGarry to the team. Steve started with Putnam in June 2023 as a Principal out of the firm’s London office.  

Steve joins with a First-Class Honours Degree in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of London. He brings a 20+ year investment banking background, with positions at Goldman Sachs (Head of European Healthcare Research) and Societe Generale and HSBC (Global Head of Healthcare Research). His research has spanned small to large cap pharma companies and biotech companies across the US, Europe, and Asia. With deep experience in detailed forecasting and the valuation of existing and new products across multiple therapeutic areas, detailed R&D pipeline analysis, and the strategic analysis of R&D pipelines for partnering and licensing opportunities, plus extensive experience on investment banking mandates, he will be a tremendous asset to the team. Steve will be most focused on Putnam’s Portfolio, Licensing & Development practice.  

He was most interested in Putnam for its strong market reputation for conducting high quality client work. He’s most looking forward to having the opportunity to add to and leverage Putnam’s existing capabilities to grow the Portfolio, Licensing & Development practice as the “go-to business” for pharmaceutical and biotech clients across the US and Europe.
