DataGateway: Market Definition and Projection

The challenge
  • Client wanted to create a data layer that will align insights derived from data to be synced with market understanding. Goal is to have a data gateway that accounts for complex patient treatment journeys and data gaps, can be directly leverage to power internal analytics, and ML driven HCP engagement initiatives.
Our solution
  • Developed overarching framework on data. Starting with Putnam expertise in data gateways, we identified unique issues specific to the indication, and underlying data gaps including SP data blocks and CMS data gaps in claims.
  • Developed business rules to map patient treatment pathway in a market consistent manner, traceable to the patient level, line of therapy (LoT), and associated encounters within LoT.
  • Applied TA unique adjustments to account for off-indication usage, miscoding, and other market dynamics.
The results
  • Developed core set of projected market reports at the overall market and new starts that correct for data gaps identified in the source claims data; Report also captures both patient volumes and shares at the LoT level for immediate brand and commercial insights.
  • Provided continued support to advanced analytics team for their internal efforts.
  • For brand/commercial teams supported and developed strategic projects that leverage this enhanced data layer.
