Vault Verdict: Putnam seems to be going from strength to strength before our very eyes, adding headcount and capabilities almost every time we check in with them. And with good reason: the firm has built a strong reputation in a highly competitive field for the quality of its analyses and project work, which has helped it to attract both top-flight clients and consultants.
Encouragingly, while Putnam has been growing steadily—and looks set to continue to do so—that growth has not come at the cost of its culture. Year after year, insiders at the firm tell us that the culture—largely built around a low travel model—is one of the major factors that keeps them at the firm.
Opportunities for growth and career development are in abundance, with much of the learning of the ‘on-the-job’ variety. Thankfully, the firm offers a strong mentorship program, as well as the opportunity to pursue a funded MBA—contingent, of course, on the consultant returning to the firm after completing the degree.
As far as boutique experiences in the pharma and biotech field go, then, this is a firm that covers most if not all of the bases for its employees. Definitely one to consider if that section of the industry is your thing.
