Next Steps: Undergraduates
Putnam Associates employs undergraduates from a wide variety of top academic institutions. Undergraduates are hired into Putnam either as Analysts or Associate Consultants depending on their business and consulting experience. We do not adhere to a rigid checklist of qualities that a potential employee must possess. Rather, our experience shows that undergraduates who thrive at Putnam come to us with the following attributes:
- Outstanding academic achievement
- Comfort with quantitative analyses
- Initiative and commitment
- Relevant intern experience
- Notable extracurricular interests
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- A high degree of personal integrity
Generally, we have found undergraduates with a focus on economics, finance, engineering or a science are especially well-suited for this position. All candidates will be considered, but most hires have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or above.
This fall, Putnam will be actively recruiting on campus for the Analyst position at:
If you are graduating from any of these schools in either December or May/June, please check with your Office of Career Services for additional information concerning event locations and the application process.
In addition, we will have résumé drops at the following schools:
We also welcome applicants from universities or colleges where we are not actively recruiting at this time, and we encourage you to submit your complete application and credentials to us directly.
A complete application as an undergraduate includes:
- A formal, one-page cover letter describing your interest in the Analyst position and Putnam Associates
- A résumé that summarizes your educational and professional performance and experience, including your Grade Point Average
- A paper or electronic copy of your undergraduate transcript.
Applications will not be considered without a cover letter and transcript. Complete applications should be e-mailed to
careers@putassoc.com. Each candidate will be sent an e-mail confirmation once his or her application has been received.
