Background: Putnam has been my first and only post-undergraduate job. I started in 2004 as an Analyst and have been with the firm ever since, which is a true testament to the quality of the people, firm culture, and professional development opportunities I have been exposed to during my time here.
Coming out of undergrad at Dartmouth I knew that I was interested in the life sciences, and determined that strategy consulting would be an ideal way to get the broadest possible exposure to the industry. But while I initially discovered Putnam because of its specialized focus, I ultimately chose Putnam because of the quality, both professional and personal, of the people I met during the recruiting process. While the reasons I have chosen to stay with Putnam are numerous, the three key reasons are:
Quality of case work: projects are consistently engaging, represent a diverse array of strategic questions and therapeutic areas, are impactful for our clients, and are relevant to a dynamic industry
People and firm culture: the work / life balance is strong, and the atmosphere collegial, helpful, and non-competitive
Opportunity for professional growth: I have consistently felt that I am acquiring new skills and taking on new responsibilities
After a number of years now at Putnam, and reflecting back on my original goals as well as considering my future aspirations, I can say with confidence that I made the right choice.
