Background: When considering life after college, I reflected on the most interesting and rewarding challenges that I faced during my undergraduate studies. I decided that the critical analysis skills honed through my economics coursework had best prepared me for the challenging work in strategic consulting. Strategy consulting is appealing to me in many ways, but specifically intrigues me for two major reasons. First, it provides a continuous cycle of new and interesting challenges that expose me to a variety of business issues faced by our clients. I like the fact that new cases arise with unique challenges keeping the work fresh and interesting. Second, the exposure to a variety of casework provides a steep learning curve for a recent graduate and is preparing me well for business school and my ongoing career.
Putnam has been a great fit for me in developing my skills and exposing me to the pharmaceutical industry. What was once only a peripheral interest to me, I have found the pharmaceutical industry to be increasingly complex and dynamic. It has been an especially rewarding experience to study the confluence of forces that impact our clients and understand the potential impacts of each force individually and as a whole. Developing this market context has helped me further my understanding of the formulation for actionable strategies for our clients. Working in different therapeutic areas with products in various market positions has shown me that there is no one answer to an issue, but rather there is always a new way to think about a solution. I have learned the important next step in evaluating the best approach involves consideration for both market and client sensitivities. Having acquired this experience has allowed me to be an increasingly productive contributor at Putnam.
When I graduated college, I don't think that I expected to be in the position that I am in both in terms of knowledge base and professional development. Putnam has been integral in both areas, having paid specific attention to my professional development. I have been fortunate to have mentors assigned to me through Putnam's mentoring program who have been highly involved in my development of both qualitative and qualitative skill sets. I feel that the exceptional people at Putnam are what set us apart from other firms. The office culture at Putnam encourages colleagues to help one another succeed in both casework and the firm leading to a productive and enjoyable working environment.

Education: Graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University with a BA in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Developmental Psychology
Background: While at Tufts University, my interdisciplinary interests developed both my quantitative abilities (in my economics courses) and qualitative analysis and understanding (through my psychology minor). As a college senior considering a career, I wondered how I could combine the two interests as well as utilize the skills acquired through my summer internships. Consulting first appealed to me due to the opportunity to apply similar skills I had gained in academic research, but in short timeframe projects that provoke change, rather than simply hypothesizing about it.
Putnam first piqued my interest due to its positioning as a boutique healthcare consulting firm. Despite being a small firm, Putnam has positioned itself as a very competitive and distinguished player in the field of pharmaceutical and biotech consulting, with a constantly expanding portfolio of clients. Not only are interactions with different clients varied, each project at Putnam represents an opportunity to explore new and distinct therapeutic areas. I am challenged and excited daily by the healthcare industry's dynamic nature and the knowledge that I am working on products that have real-life implications for patients, physicians, payers, and other stakeholders. So far at Putnam, I have had the opportunity to explore healthcare systems from around the globe and construct international and impactful product strategies.
After working in large firms, I also knew that I wanted to be in a smaller, cooperative and supportive environment. Throughout my interview process with Putnam, I was lured by the type of people that Putnam attracted: clearly sharp and driven employees, but also well-grounded, friendly, and eager to help. What continues to amaze me about Putnam is the collegial and collaborative company culture fostered here; where doors are always open and help is never denied. Putnam's size also necessitates responsibility and ownership of work from a very early stage, as well as an investment in the person behind the work. Exposure to upper management is common in a small firm, but at Putnam our established mentorship program exemplifies our focus on continual employee career and skill development. Even as analysts we do not just participate as listeners but are encouraged and expected to take initiative and contribute from day one.
