Descriptions: Consultant

For the Consultant position, Putnam Associates hires highly motivated individuals with advanced degrees from leading business schools. They have primary responsibility for understanding the client’s strategic needs and then producing the facts and analyses which form the basis for Putnam’s recommendations.

To achieve this, we leverage Consultants with a support team of Analysts and Associate Consultants. The team members provide the high-intellect energy and strategic tools to test the Consultant’s hypotheses, collect all of the available information, and perform rigorous commercial analyses. Consultants work collaboratively with Managers and Partners to transform the findings into strategic insights that will make a valuable impact on the client’s business.

In typical projects, Consultants have a wide latitude of responsibility:

  • Structure complex strategic and analytical problems into an actionable work plan
  • Manage a team of Analysts and Associate Consultants to complete the work plan
  • Interact with clients to understand problems, test hypotheses and share interim results
  • Synthesize analyses into key findings and actionable recommendations
  • Collaborate with Managers and Partners to prepare and deliver client presentations

The challenge of Putnam’s case work, the active engagement of Managers and Partners, and the support of Analysts and Associate Consultants all combine to provide a powerful learning environment.

We recognize that the growth of the firm is tied to our Consultants realizing their ambitions and we strive to recruit those in pursuit of long-term success. The perfect candidate for the Consultant position will have demonstrated excellence both during his or her academic career and during previous employment experiences with other top-tier consulting firms (Bain & Company, BCG, McKinsey & Company, etc.) or within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Proven analytic abilities, superb presentation skills and extensive team management experience are essential. A working knowledge of the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is helpful, but not required.
